Whit or without...


Today when discussing our workouts with a friend it came up that he get lactic acid very often when working out. I suggested to him that he could try Gaspari – Aminolast before his workouts, just like I do. His first question was – will you get caught using doping if you use it?

I was first surprised getting this question from him, but then started to think that this is probably a common reaction among us Finns. Thinking back on those days when I first put my foot in the gym, I never even tasted the proteins that my boyfriend drank back then (2004). I started using recovery drinks after my workouts in 2007, when I got the idea that I will compete in Body Fitness some day.

Today I use a lot of bodybuilding supplements that you can see from the list at page Wellneteus. I use these because I believe I gain more and can train harder when using them. When making this list, some friends commented to me if I’m not afraid using these and what if they contain some harmful ingredients.  

No I am not afraid, because I do not feel bad using them. Though, I must admit that I sometime have tried some pre-workout supplement that made me feel dizzy and I had to run to the toilet almost immediately after drinking it. When same thing happened every time I drank it, I of course stopped using it. I think you should use your common sense and listen to your body when using supplements and vitamins and also eating food. If you start feeling bad eating / drinking something you should of course stop eating / drinking it.

Using your common sense when it comes to who should use supplements is also a good idea. Even though I am of the opinion that it is safe to use supplements, I would never give it to a child or an animal. I think my cat would eat protein if I gave it to him, since he is always expecting to get the bowl after me when I am eating cottage cheese mixed whit protein powder :). When I was pregnant and nursing I also left out all supplements and vitamins, only used some vitamins that was made for pregnant and nursing woman. The result after nursing for nine months was that my body weight was 10 kilo less than before I got pregnant, no sign of muscles and I was losing a lot of hair. My body probably had some lack of some vitamins and I was not able to eat as much as I would have needed. Anyway I would act the same whey if I got pregnant again. 

When I stopped nursing and started to use all the supplements and vitamins as before, and of course working out at the gym I soon started to see result of my training. And when you see result you get more motivation and better results at the gym. So of my own experience I really believe that it is an advantage using these supplements. None of the supplements listed at page Wellneteus in this blog contain any substance that would be considered as doping, but of course it is up to everyone to decide what they will put into their mouth.
